A TEAM VICTORIOUS IN ANNUAL 'FRIENDLY' CLASH
Danson Albion's A & B teams squared off in the teams final pre-season encounter on Sunday at The Co-Op Ground. In a fiercely competitive friendly the Senior Division side emerged 4-1 winners.
A Matt Hewitt own goal gave the A team a 1-0 lead at half time before the B team came out fired up for the second half and were awarded a penalty in controversial circumstances by referee Chris Dodd that was dispatched by former A team payer Brad Hunt to level. The A team then received a debatable penalty of their own when Bell was felled in the box and in form Simon Neill made it four in four for his team to re-take their lead. A lead that was not surrendered again as two Nas Harris runs down the left flank were centered and found Longville to make it 3-1 and Bell to make it 4.
The match was marred by three yellow cards as tempers simmered. Waddell was without 5 of the 16 man A team squad which allowed Newman and strike pairing Harris and Edwards to get 90 minutes. Elsewhere Dave Liu appeared off the bench for the A team at left midfield and played his part in the victory.
Attentions now turn to the sides league campaigns when it really matters and both teams will look back on a good pre-season schedule that they hope will allow them to hit the ground running come next Sunday.
